Storm’s Edge, the sequel to my bestselling novel Hope’s Peak, is ready.
Thing is, it doesn’t come out until October. But don’t despair! I have been authorized by my publisher, Thomas and Mercer, to give readers a direct link to Storm’s Edge on Netgalley.
All you have to do is email me tonyleehealey at gmail dot com; message me here; reach out to me through Twitter or Facebook. However you want. I will then send you the link to the Netgalley page, where you can download it.
This is a unique opportunity to read my latest novel, a full 5 months before release.
So what are you waiting for? Hit me up!
My previous editor at Thomas & Mercer, Jacque Ben-Zekry has a brand-spanking-new website for her editing service, MODIFY EDITORIAL. She’s worked behind the scenes on some of the biggest novels of recent years, such as Blake Crouch’s WAYWARD PINES series and his smash-hit bestseller, DARK MATTER.
Last year she left Thomas & Mercer to pursue freelance editing full-time.
I have worked with Jacque on two novels. HOPE’S PEAK was fully formed when she read it. Jacque worked to take it to the next level, and then some. When it came to writing STORM’S EDGE, she worked with me from the outline stage through to the initial edits.
Her knowledge, intelligence and storytelling-knowhow has taught me so much, and I will definitely find a way of working with Jacque in the future.
I offered to write something for her site, to let other writers know the level of service they can expect:
“Hope’s Peak had a quarter of a million readers in its first month alone. It wouldn’t have been so successful without Jacque’s gifted talent as an editor, and her ability to take a work to the next level. Jacque’s deep knowledge of genre, and her uncanny knack at helping an author bring out their best, were instrumental in making Hope’s Peak a bestseller. If you want to take your novel to the next level and give yourself a shot at success, you can’t get much better than Jacque Ben-Zekry.”
As Jacque put it herself:
“I have always been fascinated by the duality of the writer’s life. Writing is the ultimate solitary task, and yet writers write to share their stories with others. Developmental editing is the process by which the internal, solitary task of writing becomes sharp, focused communication with the world.
For a writer, developmental editing should challenge your assumptions about storytelling, help you see the strengths in your work, the weaknesses that are holding you back, and understand how other people may interpret what you’ve written.
I specialize in mysteries, thrillers, suspense, crime, and sci-fi. I also have experience working in memoir, book club/women’s fiction, fantasy, general commercial fiction, and historical. My goal is to help you tell your story.”
Along the way, in this rollercoaster ride that is called ‘Writing’ I’ve learned from a lot of people. A lot of mentors. Many of those are fellow authors, trying different things, teaching me that there were better ways of writing. Some of those mentors have been editors. Jacque is one such mentor, and I am indebted to her for teaching me what she has. My work wouldn’t be the same without it.

The second Harper and Lane short story, ‘The Gift’, is now available in the Kindle Store. It includes a bonus. A little vignette called ‘Georgia’. I hope you enjoy them!
This week is Autism Awareness Week. As the father of a child who is on the spectrum, this is something very close to my heart.
It’s why I am running a charity auction on ebay, with a SIGNED paperback and audiobook of HOPE’S PEAK up for grabs.
100% of money made goes directly to the National Autistic Society.
Here’s the link:
We’re currently sitting at 6 bids. I think we can do better than that.
If you have read HOPE’S PEAK and think signed, personalised copies would look great on your bookshelf, then why not have a bid, and support a great charity in the process?
Regardless of whether you bid or not, please share this post to your friends and family.
