Writing Sprints: My First Week’s Results

Always open to trying a new thing, I thought I’d give writing sprints a shot. Battling tiredness and day-to-day demands on my time, I was looking at ways to increase my productivity without making writing a soul-sucking experience.

Writing Sprints was the answer. Setting my ipad to let off an alarm after 30 minutes, I plugged in my earphones and cranked up the Spotify. The results? Well, you can see for yourself:

All told I managed to write 18k in a week. That’s a personal best for me. Previously my best was writing 20k in 10 days. I can only imagine that, given an extra 3 days, I would’ve beat even that. BUT I wanted to make it a week (7 day) thing, to see the results.

‘In Her Skin’, my work in progress, has gone from the beginnings of a novel to being on its way to getting finished. In a week.

So there you are. That’s results for you!

  1. Tony, I really enjoy the “Far From Home ” series but truthfully I really hate how short each book is. NOVA2 only took me 45 minutes to read. Maybe I going to have to wait until you have 3-4 of them auhh was before I get anymore. Keep writing…..

    1. Hello Bev,

Yes, well, let me explain. Far From Home started out as a serial of short episodes. 12 to start off with. From there they have varied in length, some of them short stories, some novellas, some novels. Where I could I’ve tried to price them as low as possible, and to be sure the omnibus editions (Complete First Series, Complete Second Series, etc) are value for money.
Many readers like reading shorter work, what with being strapped for time. BUT I would urge my readers to wait for omnibus editions if that is not to their taste. Or contact me and I will happily send a free copy of any title via email.

Trust me Bev, I plan on writing a whole lot more . . .

      Best wishes,

      Tony
