This week I’ve been continuing to write Far From Home: Vengeance, which now sits at 25k. None too shabby.
I’ve been reading ‘Before They Are Hanged’ by Joe Abercrombie. When I finish that I have a few things to read for friends before pushing on with ‘Last Argument Of Kings.’ I’ve more than enjoyed his trilogy so far. It’s kind of a revelation in fact. For anyone even considering doing a fantasy book, I highly recommend giving The First Law Trilogy a read before you do. It’s certainly made me rethink a few of the things I was going to do with The Fallen Crown, that’s for sure.
So. This weekend I should get some work done on Vengeance, going into next week. I also have edits for Operation: Chimera to attend to, which I’ve sort of put to one side for too long. I will get them done and sent back to Curiosity Quills this weekend.
Once Vengeance is done, I will be finally finishing up on the YA horror novel I’ve had going for some time now. It’s half done and just needs a few weeks commitment to get it finished.
Since reading The First Law has made me re-examine my original ideas, etc, for The Fallen Crown (read that as: ‘Made me see some of my GREAT IDEAS weren’t that great after all…), I will be working on something completely new and different. More on that another time. For now, my thoughts are with my editor as she recuperates in hospital (finally out of ICU!). I look forward to hearing from Laurie soon. She’ll be pleased to hear that Nemesis has been in the top 20 for over a week – and even snuck into the #7 spot a few days ago.
I’ve been listening to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Live In Hyde Park, and watching Breaking Bad. I’ve nearly finished Season 3. A great show, truly great.
