Friday Update

I’m taking a few days off to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, but thought I’d let you all know how things are going.

Far From Home:

I’m writing 10, 11 & 12 in one hit. They will be released in September in one hit. More details on that to follow. Worth noting, perhaps, is that the series currently runs to 840 pages in manuscript form. Not including most of the short stories and the prequel novel The Stars My Redemption. Once all 12 installments are out there, I’ll be putting together a collected volume called ‘The Complete Series.’ It will have minor revisions and corrections made here and there and will be roughly 1000 pages long.

Nightfall:

As noted elsewhere, this was originally to be a serial. But the project has grown, and I have decided to write it (and publish it) as three novels. So it will now be a trilogy of books. I have 20,000 words to write on Book 1, which should be out in the next couple of months.

Ascension:

My long-gestating science fiction novel (hard SF) will be out before Christmas. I’ve finally cracked the few items of business holding the project up, areas of the plot I just couldn’t work out. Well, the answers to those issues presented themselves in due course and I will be going back to work on this project as soon as Far From Home and Nightfall Book 1 are completed.

Untitled Charity Anthology in support of Cystic Fibrosis:

It’s getting there. That’s all I can say. I have 10 stories so far, including my own, and more are coming in every day. Not every single story is a good fit what I’m aiming for, but that’s fine. I’m sure those stories I regretfully turn down will find a good home elsewhere, and therefore meet the right audience.

That’s it for now. I’m off to pour myself a glass of Jim Beam and relax. Until next time!

  1. I just read bk. 1 in your “Far From Home series. I quickly found myself with J. King and crew. You spin out a great tale; I only wish I had found your writings earlier! Now to decide whether to buy each installment separately or wait for the complete series to come out as one bk. You are now on my must-read-list. I love your web site in that you list the bks. you have recently read, authors you suggest we look into – truly you are an author who writes because the story must be told and who respects and supports others of the same ilk. yz
