I was asked to do this by Toni Dwiggins, author of smash hits Badwater and Volcano Watch. You can check her site out at www.tonidwiggins.com
What is the title of your next book?
From Brighton With Love
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Some ideas I’ve had over the years, stories people have told me coupled with living in Brighton all my life.
What genre does your book fall under?
Crime. Thriller. It’s a real break from my Far From Home series, which is Hi-Tech Sci-fi Adventure.
What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?
I’d only have British actors. Sam = Jamie Bamber, Clementine = Katherine Kelly, Howard “The Governor” = Tom Wilkinson.
What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?
When Clementine Collins asks him to kill her elderly husband, how can he say no to someone so beautiful?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Self-pubbed in the new year. However if it’s successful I’d allow a publishing house to take it on.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
In the process of writing it.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
The works of Lawrence Block, John D. MacDonald. It’s very much being written in the pulp vein. It’s also set in 1986.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I read Superbia by Bernard Schaffer at the beginning of 2012. I read a lot of Hard Case Crime over the course of the year, and recently I read Infected by William Vitka. This is my own attempt at writing some pulpy crime fiction but set in Brighton.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you’re interested to see what I can do with crime fiction, especially that written in the pulp style, then this book will be for you. It’s a far cry from my on-going Scifi series Far From Home.
From Brighton With Love will feature plenty of action, violence, bad language, sex, murder, and double-crossing, I promise you.
If you like all that, then this will be right up your alley…
Sadly I haven’t had time to ask other writers if they’d be available to do this, so I’m just gonna leave the invitation open. If anyone wants to do this Q&A, then let me know and I’ll add your name and link (s) to the bottom of this page.
