2 #FridayReads & a Friday 13th FREE BOOK PROMO!

This week I have TWO FridayReads!!! Yes! TWO!

I am still reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. It’s a long book, but it’s such a pleasure to read I’m not losing interest in it. It’s just one of those books that takes a long time.

However, as much as I recommend you read Kavalier and Clay, I have another book I read at the weekend.

Magnificent Guns of Seneca 6!!!

Here’s my review.

The Guns of Seneca 6 Ride Again!

I described The Guns of Seneca 6, the first book in the series, as a mixture of Firefly, Steampunk and Western Mythology. I stand by what I said, even though I feel that The Magnificent Guns of Seneca 6 is a better book than it’s predecessor.
Bernard has written quite a few books by now, but I feel as though this is his ‘second album’ book, in that it not only had to live up to the first book in the series, it had to surpass it.
Well, The Magnificent Guns of Seneca 6 thankfully does both. It goes deeper. The characters are more defined, more real in some way.
You feel that Bernard Schaffer is comfortable in this world he has created. He knows it inside and out, and the writing flows with surety and confidence as he takes us back to Seneca for another high-octane adventure.

My personal favourite book of Schaffer’s will always be Superbia, for a variety of different reasons. However, I think this is his best work. It’s the best written, the plot is the most original he has ever come up with, and the character work is absolutely spot on.

The Magnificent Guns of Seneca 6 takes what was started in the first book and cranks everything up a notch. This is quite possibly one of the best adventures you will ever read, written by the only author with the chops to write it.

Now… let’s ride!

In other business, I am in the final editing stages with tutti frutti. It’s gone out to beta-readers, and the first responses back are fantastic so really pleased.

I’ve been writing Adolf Hitler Must Die (starting to find my feet with it) and plotting out something very special that I’m hesitant to say ANYTHING about, to be honest.

I’ve been watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on blu-ray, and listening to Hell’s Kitchen USA.

I’ve been listening to Zero 7, “When It Falls.”

A really chilled out album that I hadn’t listened to in a long while. Brilliant.

The Stars My Redemption is FREE for today only. So be sure to grab a copy.

Anyway, until next week. Take care you lot.
