Okay. Now about tutti frutti.
I’ve been writing a supernatural novella, called Memory. I’m writing it in conjunction with both David Hulegaard and Brendan Swogger, who are working on parallel projects. However a few weeks ago I hit a block with it. The story I was writing sort of fizzled out to nothing at the 8,000 word mark. I didn’t know what to do. I had also hit a block with Adolf Hitler Must Die.
I thought to myself, “Why not write a bit of erotica? Try your hand at it?” So that’s what I did. I sat down without a plan, or anything, and just wrote. I did that for about 12 days, and ended up with tutti frutti, a 17,000 word novella.
Sure, it ended up more as a romance than hardcore erotica. But it’s full of sex, and I think it will appeal as much to those who love erotica as those who love romance.
I totally enjoyed writing it, and I do feel now that I’m into the editing stage with Laurie, that it’s among my best work. And I can tell you, I listened to some strange stuff whilst writing it. You’d think I was plugged into Liberace, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Here’s the 3 albums I listened to over and over as I wrote:
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, “The Rising.”
Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, “Live At The Greek.”
Prometheus, The Official Soundtrack.
The process of writing it also enlightened me to a few things. First of all, I figured out what to do with Adolf Hitler Must Die, and secondly I realised that I had a better story than what I had with Memory. Something dark and a little bit twisted. I think readers will totally love Memory when it’s done. It’s got to be the most original plot I’ve ever come up with.
Anyway, that’s it for now. Look for that freebie on Friday, and please try to leave me a review.
